Logs

SmartConnect and it's add-ons produce detailed log files so administrators can see exactly what is happening at the back end.

Assumptions

For the purposes of this page, the following assumptions are made:

• The V1 directory is C:\V1Home (change as appropriate to your installation)
• You have direct dial in / remote desktop access to the V1 server where SmartConnect and it's add-ons are installed

SmartConnect

API

When used in conjunction with SmartExtract, the SmartConnect API layer handles the communication between them during day to day processing of documents, such as validation and export.

C:\V1Home\SmartConnect\SmartConnectAPI\logs\SmartconnectAPI_2021_01_13.log
A log is generated per day with evidence of all communication.

EXE

When used in conjunction with SmartExtract or translations in PIA with DbCapture, the SmartConnect EXE is triggered to interrogate the relevant area of the system.

A log is generated per day with evidence of all communication.

Emailing with SmartMail

C:\V1Home\SmartMail\logs

Which will contain 2 files for both system activity and an audit of mailing activity.

New files are generated per day and meaningfully named so as to make it easier to track emails that have been received / distributed.

SmartDeposit

Passing a document to SmartExtract via SmartDeposit (whether individual document or in a zip file containing multiple documents) triggering the associated definition file will generate a log:

C:\V1\DbArchive\SmartExtract.31417.log
Containing all evidence of activity in the DbForm definition file of the same name (*.def) handling the validation and export of images.

It is over-written when the Validate or Deposit button is clicked reflecting the respective activity.

V1HouseKeepingManagement

The background process and associated definition file 'ticks' periodically creating a log file detailing activity performing house keeping tasks keeping the system optimised.

C:\V1Home\logs\V1HouseKeepingManagement.log

It is over-written with every 'tick'.

V1UpdateService

The background process and associated definition file 'ticks' periodically creating a log file detailing activity, checking for and where found performing updates automatically once a day.

C:\V1Home\logs\V1UpdateService.log

It is over-written with every 'tick'.
